Princes Gate climbs new heights!

April 28th, 2011

How chuffed were we to have been sent the following message from a keen fan in Wales, who took our product to the base camp at Mount Everest. What a legend!

I’ll let her tell you in his own words his story….

‘Dear Princes Gate Team,

I thought that you may be interested in the journey that one of your bottles of water took earlier this month. I was part of a team of trekkers that had planned a trek to Everest base camp in Nepal, we arrived in Kathmandu on the 28th March and then started our trek on the 29th from Lukla, the route took us through Namche Bazaar, Deboche, Deingboche, Gorak Shep and then into Everest Base camp at 5364m on the 10th April we stayed there for 2 nights with the summit team. During the trip we were joined by a team of climbers who plan to summit Everest during May when the conditions are good. Anyway this mail is not so much about my trip but the bottle of Princes Gate water that I bought in the UK and used during the trek. I had drunk all of it by the time that I had left Lukla but I used the bottle to carry water each day, every night we were given boiling water by the Sherpas’ for use the following day. I have attached a photograph of the bottle and me taken on the 11th April at base camp, in the back ground you can see the Western Cym leading up the ice fall to camp 1, Everest is not visible from base camp but is behind the mountain on the left in the photograph. You may also be interested that Richard Parks, the former Welsh International, is part of the summit team that we joined on the trek.

I arrived back in the UK 18th April (with the bottle intact !!!! ) and spent about a week recovering in our house in Penally before returning to Belgium where we spend most of our time.

Yours, Mel Thomas’

Cheers Mel, thanks so much for taking us with us on your journey!

We got an A!

January 4th, 2011

If you weren’t already assured of the quality of Princes Gate Spring Water, then you’ll soon be convinced; we’ve recently been awarded a Grade A from the BRC (British Retail Consortium) food manufacturing audit. It’s pretty much the highest quality accolade within the food and beverage industry, and we sailed into the highest category of food hygiene and safety. Well done to Colin our QA manager and all the team for this much-deserved award.

Personal Best’s all round at the Cardiff Half!

October 18th, 2010

What a fantastic day we had yesterday! The Princes Gate Team came out in force to support our charity partners Barnardos, running the Cardiff Half Marathon in style!

Sponsored by Princes Gate Spring Water, the Cardiff Half is now in its seventh year of operation, and Princes Gate have proudly supported the last four of those years. Furthermore, each year some of our staff members get out and either sprint, run, walk or crawl the route!

This year was most definitely a year for sprinters! Each participant scored a personal best; the results are as follows:

 - Glen and Marie in at 1.46 hours, Jackie following closely behind at 1.51, followed by Mandy and Colin, both in at 2.04, again followed closely by Sam at 2.06. Well done to all who took part – and here’s to Cardiff Half 2011!

The Big Bang

October 14th, 2010

This year’s Big Bang Ball held in Hotel Plas Hyfryd was the best yet. Now in our 13th year, the ball serves to raise money for our friends at the Noah’s Ark Appeal. We just love them and their charity. They do fantastic things for the sick children in Wales – for parents, it would be lovely never to have to set foot in the hospital. But it’s great to know it’s there if we need it. The ball raised £8,500 in donations and via a silent auction. So on the night, we proudly presented a cheque for over £29,000 to the charity, comprising also the recent Daiathalon and monies from other fundraising efforts over the course of the year.

Thanks to Scarlets for as always supporting us – they generously donated a number of wonderful stadium packages. Thanks also to Pete Griffiths of Alexander Partnership, for donating 2 weeks in a villa in Lanzarote.

But the highlight of the evening was the entertainment we enjoyed, courtesy of Max Boyce, who gave of his time freely in aid of the charity. Thanks Max, our tummys are still sore from laughing!

Keep abreast of our fundraising on our website www.princesgate.com
